Free ranks

The 100 ranks you earn by playing: how much time, how much money, and how they differ from the paid ones.

What they are

100 ranks you earn by playing, split into 10 families of ten: Newcomer, Settler, Adventurer, Veteran, Elite, Champion, Master, Legend, Mythic and Ascendant, each numbered I to X.

You climb with /rankup. The full ladder, with what you still need for the next step, is in /ranks.

The menu /ranks opens.

What it takes to climb

Two things at once: playtime and money.

  • Active playtime. It accumulates — it is not spent when you rank up. Being AFK does not count. Families close at 5 hours for the first and 500 for the last.
  • Money, actually charged. From the first step to the last it goes from $96 to $12,023. The whole ladder adds up to $250,563.

Rankup money is destroyed: it does not go to another player or to a fund. That is what keeps the economy from inflating.

Time bites early, money bites late

The two curves are different on purpose. The lower half of the ladder is little time and little money; higher up, time is what drags and money is what hurts. By tier 50 you have paid only a fraction of the total.

Rewards

Only the last tier of each family gives a reward — the other nine raise your tag and nothing else. That is 10 rewards across the whole ladder.

These are not the paid ranks

They are two separate ladders that coexist. These 100 are earned by playing and cost no real money. The paid ones (Mortal, Hero, Demigod, Titan, Olympian) are a different thing with different perks: they have their own page.

Having one does not take the other away. You can be Titan and sit at Veteran III.
